The International Foundation Programme in Engineering and Applied Science provides a thorough grounding in the fundamental subjects necessary for you to become a respected and successful engineer or applied scientist. The core modules for progression for engineers are Mathematics, Physics and Professional Skills. Engineering covers a wide range of disciplines and a unique feature of this programme is the opportunity for you to study a subject which will enable you to progress onto the degree of your choice, e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Construction Project Management, Logistics with Supply Chain Management or Computer Science. The Foundation Programme offers extra support for Mathematics and Physics modules if required by the student. Aston University provides a very supportive environment to all students, but in particular our Learning Development Centre provides additional help to Foundation Programme students in terms of extra sessions in mathematics and physics led by experienced tutors.A student can progress to Engineering and Applied Science undergraduate degree programmes at Aston University through this programme if they meet the appropriate course related criteria at the end of the course. You will be taught at Aston University by Aston University staff. As for a University degree, you are expected to attend lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions. You are also expected to study in your own time and make use of resources, such as the Library and the Learning Development Centre, where experienced and knowledgeable staff are available to assist you with your studies. You will be assessed by a variety of methods including written coursework, practical work, exams and presentations.The course is perfect for students who have a passion for engineering and applied science and for whatever reasons do not have qualifications at the expected level or in appropriate subjects , or where the qualifications are non traditional. This course is only for non-EU International students.
