The International Foundation in Science and Engineering prepares you for direct entry on to the first year of a Computing, Mathematics, Engineering, Science or related undergraduate degree at an NCUK university. Progress to globally recognized universities for science and engineering, including Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Bristol, University of Leeds, University of Liverpool and University of Manchester.
This module asks the question, ?What information do students need to be familiar with when they come to study in an unfamiliar academic environment??.
This module takes an evolutionary approach to biology, considering: the different levels of organisation in living systems; the study of life processes and similarities between living things.
This module builds on the fundamental principles of general chemistry, including: concepts of physical, inorganic and organic chemistry; the social, environmental, economic and technological impact of chemistry on the community.
The EAP module is designed to help students with all other academic modules. It is build around six core strands: writing; reading; lecture and seminar skills; academic skills; ICT; tutorials.
This module is intended for more expert mathematicians and explores complex areas of mathematics.
You will develop a methodical approach to problem solving using mathematical techniques and theory. PLEASE NOTE: Modules are automatically assigned, not chosen - dependent on each student's chosen degree. Students will be enrolled on the correct modules automatically when they begin their program, and must study the modules they have been given in order to be able to progress to their chosen degree. Students will be automatically assigned 3 modules from the specialist content modules available, and 1 module from the specialist English modules available.
A wide variety of topics is included of particular relevance to students wishing to pursue a degree in physics or an engineering-related field.
This module is for students with a higher level of English, and focuses on tasks which develop literature-based research skills, which can then be applied to a global issue (as outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals). The module aims to develop students? ability to communicate the results of their research both in an oral presentation and in an extended essay.
