Interior Architecture - BA (Hons)

University of Westminster, London

Having the opportunity to take part in the global experience - partially funded by the uni resort, I was able to travel to Sri Lanka and participate in a marine and wildlife conservation volunteering scheme!

The best aspects are the support, the staff and student union are very supportive and there are loads of ways to access different kinds of support. However I would say a lot of students aren't really aware on how they could utilise that support and how it could benefit them, which is something that could be improved on. The facilities are pretty great but the library and Fabrication Lab can get extremely full, very quick. For my course, we once all took part in a compulsory competition, since the deadline was within the week, and the lack of space compared to the number of students taking part, it meant the lines to use some of the laser machines were totally outrageous, many students needed to stay quite late. However, I did enjoy the competition since there were many staff around to encourage us, answer questions and help us develop our projects, despite needing to wait long times to actually bring the project to life. Overall, I would say the facilities are definitely advanced, just not proportionate enough for the number of students, however I know the university is already working on improving this with Zone 29, which is really encouraging, knowing that they understand when something needs to be improved and actively doing so.

Good institution, modern feel and the business support is great. There are a lack of scholarship options offered within the course.

Great to have fabrication lab. Loads of material to choose from also can work on the models im so many different options from wood lab to laser cutting to 3d printing and cnc. Toilets and lifts could be improved. Lifts are always breaking down people get stuck quite often. Toilets are not very clean always out of soap. Studio are great but could be cleaned a bit more at least the tables. Always dirty and full of bits from students work, something for students to clean after themselves could be provided. Sometimes not enough space for all 3 year group causing clashes and arguments

heaters are off on the weekend in studios 4th and 5th Floor causing a lot of us to get sick other than that everything is great! we have raised this issue a couple of times since most of us do work in studio on weekends but this problem has never been addressed properly.
