University of Strathclyde

Strathclyde has a very warm and welcoming feel. Canadian students will feel right at home, as there are many parallels between Scottish and Canadian culture. The university is located right next to downtown, which means there is plenty of opportunity to explore the cafes, pubs, shops, and beautiful buildings near campus.

It is a good place to study and for student life too. However, I really didn't like the fact that we need to change the place of lectures between the lectures even if it is the same course and the same lecturers. I Found this a waist of time and energy, I suggest to have the same place to attend to lectures especially if it is for the same module.

Lots of societies and sporting facilities and clubs which enrich the social aspect of my uni experience. Material delivered is interesting. Workload is pretty heavy and there can sometimes be limited support and unclear instructions on assignments.

The campus is very accessible as it is based off the city centre. The new union is modern but is lacking in the aspects which the old union delivered on. Labs and computer labs are very modern and have great facilities. The library is a great space for studying with 5 different floors for different types of studying from silent solo to group study. The university needs to have a great overhaul in communication with students as during the pandemic, we were kept in the dark about how our course was to be taught to us, whether or not we could even access the campus. Some staff are great and engage us students with their subject which they are obviously passionate about, whereas other lecturers make it unbearable to sit through lectures regardless of whether or not subject is interesting. Over the past couple of years the university were very delayed in releasing timetables meaning we were kept in the dark of when we would have university activities, creating difficulty for planning in life, especially for students who need to work alongside studies.

Great place to study, excellent union, brilliant location. Support is excellent and disability support very accessible. Timetabling could be improved.
