Overview

Immersive experiences at Abertay covers a wide range of applied and theoretical research.

New and emerging immersive technologies present the most significant disruption to the wider creative industries since the advent of the world wide web in the 1990s. The opportunities for cutting edge research and innovation utilising platforms such as AR, VR and XR are vast, and research students working in this area have the potential to generate real impact on emerging technologies, production processes and audiences. At Abertay, you will be supported to conduct this research by our world-leading expertise in computer games education, our connections with key industry partners, such as Microsoft and Sony, and our specialist immersive and game development facilities. We have the expertise to assess immersion qualitatively and quantitatively together with the capability to develop VR and AR applications with a range of hardware devices housed in our Emergent Technology Centre.
