I like that it’s quite small, that comes with pros and cons but for me is mainly a good thing. I think the lecturers I have a re great. I haven’t interacted much with our student union so I can’t say much about them, but u do hear complaints more than I hear good things, if I’m being honest! I’m sure they’re trying their best. Whenever I’ve needed support I’ve mostly gotten good help. I quite like how my lectures are structured, it’s a decent place to study!

Best- the lectures, the information provided, the support from staff, the location of campuses is good and everyone is friendly Improvements- more clubs

The mental health support is not preventative. I feel as though I have to be very unwell and unable to cope before anyone knows what to do. Even so, there is little leeway when it comes to my deadlines. The best experience for me is my course. I love all my lectures I think they’re engaging and cover important topics. I mostly have seminars rather than lectures which improves the experience.

The university is such a friendly environment, staff are always helpful and there for support if needed and resources are easy to access! Thoroughly enjoying my experience at the University of Gloucestershire, both socially and academically! The campus’ are quite spread out from each other but there are great transport links between them so is not too much of an issue. Overall, highly recommended studying here if you want a fun uni experience in a smaller uni environment!

They’re overall supportive. My main fear when coming to Uni was potential transphobia from people in halls and classes, but I’ve not experienced any of it. In fact, the person in charge of halls once misgendered me and still continues to apologise in emails they send to me. They’re understanding of mental health. I have autism, and I’m not discriminated or treated differently for that- I’ve been given extra time in assessments that I previously didn’t get in college or secondary school. If you’re struggling with an assessment regardless of mental health, you can still apply for a weeks extension so you’re never too stressed about assignments. Halls are a great place to be, my whole flat is like a tiny family and I’m close to everyone in my course. They also understand about money and rent, like they’ll set deadlines for rent but even if you don’t meet them they’re not all over you for that, they let you take your time so even money isn’t a stressful factor. They have a range of different societies where you can meet people who have the same interests as you, some are related to courses, some not. You have a course rep in every class who gives feedback to lectures for you and keeps the class up to date. The student Union is fantastic too. Not to forget the 24/7 library so if you wanna impulse do your assignment at midnight and don’t want to do it in your room, the library is open. I will say, however, the main thing I’ve noticed that isn’t the best is the wait for a welfare appointment, as it took me searching for a while to find someone who had appointments free and with a time that worked with me. I’ve not been here long, having been here only since 2021 but regardless, everything so far with my Uni experience has been great and far beyond what I was expecting. Tutors are supportive, the uni itself is just great- it’s sustainable and continues to make a sustainable footprint and changes ways. I’ve just loved it here. Zero regrets in accepting my offer!
