the best aspects are the accessibility of educational tools, the placement of study areas and the facilities. the student union holds many different departments who offer friendly faces and are happy to help. The same can be said about the student centre of life where staff members are incredibly nice and make the process of booking appointments efficient. An issue however i think is the depth of attention and care paid to students, particularly concerning mental well-being. Infamously university is a new scary beginning and students handle this anxiety in different ways, i think more provisions should be put in place and although students have a personal tutor, they usually meet with these staff members in groups. I believe a far more helpful option would be to provide students with one to one meetings with well being officers, as once things become overwhelming for students, reaching out to the well being department to speak to a staff member who is a stranger is rather daunting.

I really love the location of the uni, the study spaces are really great and really relaxing. You get a lot of support from mentors and lecturers which can really help if you are struggling at uni. However, I stayed in senghennydd court in 1st year and it was absolutely awful, student accommodation in Cardiff is terrible and wouldn’t recommend to anyone wanting to come to university here. Apart from that I love the uni and can only say positive things (apart from the student accommodation)

Cardiff is such a fun uni and city. The students Union is so big and I really enjoy going to the different cafes and shops there. I have had several issues with exams sorted out very fast by the centre for student life and seminar tutors & lecturers. The nightlife here is also so fun!

One of the best aspects of my university experience at Cardiff has been the strong sense of community and the quality of teaching within my degree. The lecturers are approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in students’ development, particularly within psychology and social sciences. The course content has been engaging and relevant, with a good balance between theory and real-world application, which has helped shape my career aspirations. Cardiff itself is also a great place to study it’s a lively city with a welcoming atmosphere, affordable compared to many other UK cities, and offers a good balance between academic life and social opportunities. Another positive aspect has been the range of extracurricular and volunteering opportunities available. Being able to gain practical experience alongside my studies has been invaluable, and Cardiff University provides strong support for students looking to develop skills beyond the classroom.

So many places to go to study like the libraries, the student union, the centre for student life or even places in the city like coffee shops. However, some of the buildings are quite far away from the centre for student life.
