This course is aimed at those who wish to gain employment as an early learning and childcare practitioner. This sector is expanding and demand for qualified early years staff is likely to remain high. The course will provide the student with a wide knowledge of the factors which influence children's care and their learning and development.
Students will gain an understanding of the principles, values and legislation underpinning early years practice.
The course also provides opportunities to relate theory to practice with a weekly practical placement (usually two days each week), which will give candidates the opportunity to see first-hand how early years settings operate).
Career Paths
The qualification has been identified as appropriate for early learning and childcare practitioners, and successful completion of the course will enable you to seek employment to work with children in a range of public and private settings, and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at practitioner level.
