Assistant Practitioners work at a level above that of Healthcare Support Workers and have a more in-depth understanding about factors that influence health and ill-health The Assistant Practitioner is a job title applied to a wide variety of roles that have been developed locally by employers to meet individual service need. Upon successful completion of this standard, individuals will have obtained the core skills, knowledge and values/behaviours to become an Assistant Practitioner.The specialist pathway options have been aligned to the sectors identified by local employers, these will include:
• Physiotherapy
• Speech & Language Therapy
• Mental Health
• Community Health
• Public Health The programme is a flexible, authentic practice learning course aimed to develop competent, confident and compassionate practitioners, providing high quality, safe and responsive person-centred care across the lifespan in diverse care setting. This course includes significant practice (or work-based) learning.Students will have the opportunity to achieve proficiencies relating to their area of practice aligned to the optional modules in the second year. This will enable them promote health and prevent ill health, provide and monitor care, work as part of a team, improve safety and the quality of care, and contribute to integrated care.
