Our MSc Clinical and Health Psychology course offers a global perspective on wellbeing, adjustment, and change, and prepares you for a rewarding career in healthcare, research, or policy. Join our diverse learning community to discover how psychology empowers people to overcome physical and mental health challenges and can help them manage, adjust to or initiate change in their lives for improved wellbeing and a more balanced life. Why should I study the MSc Clinical and Health Psychology course? As well as the opportunity to learn from specialist staff with long-standing experience in both teaching and psychology research, you will also get the chance to: Work in dedicated spaces designed for psychological investigation Deepen your understanding of how psychological processes influence mental and physical health, wellbeing, and behaviour Benefit from our links with external organisations that offer training, volunteering and networking opportunities Study in a smaller group in an engaging and focused environment Enjoy guest speakers working in the field Gain knowledge aligned with British Psychological Society standards* Develop core competencies valued in professional psychology settings Receive training in professional practice and further develop your research skills. *Please note, this MSc course does not confer eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS). This course also does not provide the stage 1 training qualification in health psychology that is a pre-requisite for BPS stage 2/doctoral training in health psychology. You can find further information on these routes from the British Psychological Society website. If you currently have GBC, you can continue your professional training in psychology in the UK. If you are yet to obtain your GBC status and wish to pursue further psychology training in the UK, please do take a look at our MSc Psychology of Mental Health (Conversion) course.
Applicants will have a second or first-class award (1st, 2:1 or 2:2) at undergraduate level in psychology (or a related social or medical science subject). Ideally your undergraduate study will have had a research methods component evident across the degree and a final year research project/dissertation. It is recommended that applicants will hold Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC with the British Psychological Society (BPS)) if they intend to pursue further training in psychology in the UK, but this is not a specific requirement of entry. You may also be considered for course entry if your undergraduate studies are outside of the social or medical sciences, but you can demonstrate evidence of work experience relevant to a clinical or health psychology context alongside your undergraduate qualification. Please note: If you would like to obtain GBC with the BPS at this point, or you are completely new to Psychology, you may wish to apply for a place on our MSc Psychology of Mental Health (Conversion) course.
