This degree is an ideal choice for students who want to gain the knowledge, skills, and experience to work in health and social care and make a positive difference to the lives of marginalised people. The health and social care sector is constantly changing to meet the complex needs of people in society this course, developed and taught by experts in the field guides students through these complexities and leads to a wide range of career and postgraduate opportunities. An interest in health and wellbeing leads our students to study a wide variety of topics from mental health to criminal justice, social care to public health, domestic abuse to homelessness. We encourage our students to consider how we develop through the life cycle, how individuals and society are affected by poverty and inequality, and the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly globalised and technological world. The Health and Social Care body of students is incredibly diverse, with students from the local area, around the UK and overseas, as well as mature students. We also consider applicants with professional experience in the field. We use creative teaching methods to bring issues to life and to help students make the links between theory and practice. Our teaching uses the latest research and utilises our close links with a range national and local organisations guests from the sector regularly come to campus to share their experiences with our students.
