You will build upon your prior knowledge to explorecontexts such as poster design, advertising, visual merchandising, magazine design, branding & corporate identity, logo design and web design. You will learn about both historical and contemporary graphic design and be supported in delivering academic presentations and presenting your work professionally.**Assessment**This is a coursework based programme with no exams. Assignments are issued to students as an assignment brief with a hand-out date, a completion date and clear requirements for the evidence that students are expected to provide. Successful student coursework evidence provides a balance of understanding, practical skills and vocational attributes relevant to graphic design.**Industry Links**We work with a number of local businesses in the creative industry. You will be given the opportunity to participate in a work experience placement and a live brief competition. The course culminates in a negotiated final major project and exhibition.**Progression**The HNC in Graphic Design is a one year Higher Education course, providing natural progression onto the HND, or alternatively direct entry into employment. Following successful completion of the HNC qualification, students can choose to enrol for a second year (full-time) and upgrade their qualification to the HND in Graphic Design. The HND can then be advanced to a full degree (Level 6) by attending a second or third year degree (or honours degree) at a University.
