The Global Maternal Health MSc is a flexible programme designed to develop your leadership skills with a particular focus on international aspects of childbirth and maternal health, including development and scaling up of midwifery to improve quality, accessibility, and safety of maternity care globally.

You have the opportunity to discuss key issues in global maternal health and healthcare provision in multi-professional and interdisciplinary contexts. You will gain a solid foundation of research skills and applied data analysis to support and extend your role as an evidence-based practitioner, researcher, educator, advocate or development worker.

A clinical, research or policy improvement project in an alternative setting arranged via our partner network
A placement with the World Health Organisation (WHO)*
A virtual placement in a setting arranged via our partner network. Students may also agree alternative placement options with their module leader.
The opportunities available will be dependent on current international travel advice, restrictions or other external factors and will be discussed with your module leader at the outset of the programme.

*The WHO placements are unpaid and normally involve a stay in Geneva, where students observe and participate in maternity policy related work that the WHO is engaged in. In some cases, this could also involve a placement with a WHO office in a different country.
