Our flexible Geography degrees allow you to specialise in human geography or physical geography, or to combine elements of both. In addition, you can study other social science or humanities subjects.You will also have the opportunity to go on field trips and to work with partner organisations to help them solve problems that they are currently facing.Our teaching is based on the research carried out in the department and is focused on three broad themes: creating just communities and places, shaping environmental futures, and geospatial and digital methods.You will cover specialisms within these themes including:- health and wellbeing- city futures- geopolitics and power- tourism and globalisation- policing and security- hazards and riskPsychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. Topics we cover include how babies learn, the way in which people's mental skills change as they grow older, personality types, and social group dynamics. You will also study different psychological disorders.You will also learn how to think critically and solve problems. We will teach you to analyse data, write clearly and effectively, and be a confident communicator of science. You will learn how to plan, implement, and analyse your own research project.

Never had a bad experience with student support services and in general staff and lecturers have always been friendly and helpful. The union seems to be slightly worse managed recently with less on and much higher prices but still a good union and in general student life is good. The uni is in a good location in Dundee but dundee itself is pretty boring, at least compared to edinburgh/glasgow. University library is 10/10. A very very good facility. The sports facilites are also very good although quite expensive for memberships etc.

Study spaces are well equipped, student support is also very helpful when in need of assistance for most issues. The organisation of some courses and communication with lecturers etc. can be poor sometimes, creating delays in course work or not supplying information quick enough to implement it into coursework etc.

The location is ideal with the city centre being only a 5 minute walk away. There are plenty of really lovely coffee shops near by to grab caffeine in-between classes or stop for lunch. The campus itself is quick and easy to navigate with buildings being really well signposted for the most part. The student union offers free breakfast for all students (Monday to Friday) in order to help in the current economic crisis. Even if this was not the case, the food offered if extremely well priced and tastes great. The main library has different floors to accommodate different study types (group, quiet, silent etc) so you can find somewhere that suits how you work best. The library has also great facilities such as bookable rooms, the ability to reserve textbooks etc. My only criticism would be any online teaching aspects. In person classes are normally recorded and released later that day. Quite often there is errors where the video won’t have recorded properly or there is sound issues, however lecturers are often quick to find a way to fix this issue such as uploading the lecture from a previous year instead.

Good facilities on campus with a range of places to study, eat, and socialise based on your preferences. Friendly staff who are almost always available to help with any concerns and a well laid out campus in close proximity to the city centre, supermarkets, and public transport facilities. Could be improved with more affordable cafes and bars, and more cafeterias in the library as the current library cafe is small and gets very busy during the day.

It is a great university to study in, because (at least for philosophy and psychology) the lecturers genuinely care about the students and enjoy interacting with them face to face. You can ask them questions or just talk about the material and they will be more than happy to do so. The student : teacher ratio is quite good, so lecturers are rarely too busy to be talked to. If you want to study philosophy, beware that it is continental philosophy, not analytic philosophy. If that is your cup of tea, then you will enjoy it a lot here. The lecturers are great at making the content genuinely fun and interesting. If you prefer analytic philosophy, you will not get much of that here. If you want to study psychology, the first two years are well-paced and ease you nicely into the discipline, before the last two years get going. Lecturers, as I said, are great, supportive, and encouraging, and often take students as research assistance (which is really good for you, so do it if you get the chance!). The city, Dundee, is not the nicest. While it tends to be quite sunny here (compared to other places in Scotland), the city itself is more run-down. As long as you find a community to integrate yourself into, you will not be bothered much by that, though.

Geography and Psychology - MA (Hons)

The staff are amazing and help answer questions ranging from pure daft to incredibly complex. The course is enjoyable, and engaging and offers a range of opportunities. I feel appropriately tested in my academic abilities and am encouraged to expand my knowledge to better my future. As per the campus, the student union is currently being refurbished with little communication to students on what is being implemented. I am grateful for the improvement but it feels as though we are waiting to see the result blindly - the true result may not match the current rumors. The location of the campus is perfect for walking into the town for a night out or a coffee study session. The free bus travel for under 24s is ideal for taking trips to the ice arena or cinemas on the outskirts of the city and can create a perfect life-study balance. I would completely recommend Dundee as both a university to study at as well as a city to be in. Could there be improvements? Yes. Would I consider doing my undergraduate at another university? No. All in all, nowhere is 100% perfect but the people of Dundee and what is offered make up for anything lacking.

The student union has plenty of spaces to go to, for example a cafe and two bars then becomes a club at nighttime the university have been supportive during the cost of living crisis by introducing free breakfasts for all students and a student pantry the builldings around campus are clean and welcoming there is rarely a time when the facilities are not acceptable
