University of Sussex

The campus architecture is protected brutalist buildings which are fascinating, but have undergone allot or works under the time I've been there which interrupted both my studying experience and living on campus in first year. Once these are done, I imagine it would be a much more appreciated environment for students. Facilities on campus are generally very good, but the treatment from maintenance whilst in halls in first year wasn't always brilliant. The students union, though seems to constantly battle allot of issues with accessibility is great and very supportive.

I love that the campus is surrounded by nature and I love all the societies that the univeristy has to offer. I also love that the university has very good transport links into Brighton, making it cheap and easy to travel. To improve, it would be better if there were more events that the student union held throughout the year.

Love my life at uni of sussex, super friendly environment and beautiful campus and Brighton is the best. Only thing that could be improved is more sport societies for people not wanting to play at the highest level

The University of Sussex tries really hard to make sure all students feel included and heard; and it is paying off. I have personally enrolled in a paid program to support the decision making of the APP due next year, and it is nice to have my voice listened to. The lecturers are attentive and are always open to chat, with allotted in-office hours for drop-in sessions to discuss the course/any difficulties. They make sure that you understand the course, and offer any additional help if it is required. One downside of the university is that currently, a lot of it is under reconstruction, which has made it look like a building site. Roads are being closed which disrupts deliveries to the accommodations, and overall makes it look untidy and unclean. But, the new things they have/are building will make the university look more modern, so the construction will be worth it in the long-run. Along those lines, the Student Centre which was opened a few years ago has really made the university a nice place to work and study; as it gives another place to do more collaborative work which is not possible in the library. It is a modern space built to make students comfortable, with a café and assistance desk for general enquiries. It is always reliable to have Wi-Fi has well, which in the accommodations, is a bit flaky. Overall there isn't much that needs to be improved, except keeping more roads open and having consistent and strong Wi-Fi!

Dedicated faculty and really nice people to learn and work with. I like the student voice and the location next to the national park. Also job support and opportunities are varied and frequent. More financial support for students especially from less financial backing backgrounds and opportunities to guest lecture/ assist in different sectors

I love my university; the lecturers of my course were great and there is constant outreach about career support, job oppurtunities, as well as support from staff almost all the time. However, one fault I have with the university is how the campus has almost always been a building site, other than my first year - which was during covid, so a lot of building work couldn't be completed - it has ALWAYS been a building site. The areas that are accessible are great; the bars, restaurants and shops are incredibly helpful but whenever I walk around campus it just feels like a concrete jungle. The student life is great, Brighton is an amazing city with amazing accessibility from the campus. The campus is surrounded by countryside which makes exercise and walks easy. The student union is great and informative, however I feel like a lot of the students within the student union can often come across as arrogant. In terms of facilities, there are plenty on campus, but also loads locally, or within Brighton.
