The entire programme is delivered through the medium of Gaelic, allowing participants to develop their Gaelic literacy skills while enhancing their professional knowledge, understanding and skills in Gaelic education. The programme will be based on the following:Immersion teaching methods and best practices in international immersion educationResearch, policy and practice in Gaelic-medium educationStrengthening pupils' Gaelic skillsStrengthening participants' confidence and abilities in Gaelic and their understanding and use of Gaelic grammarStrengthening understanding of Gaelic culture and identity within the curriculumSupporting a diversity of learners in Gaelic educationOn the verge of learning in Gaelic educationUser research that informs and improves practiceThe MEd programme is based on graduated modules that allow participants to continually build on their established knowledge. The degree culminates in a final practitioner examination designed to allow participants to apply the professional knowledge, skills and understanding they have developed throughout the programme to support development in their own work setting.

Entry requirements

  • You must have Gaelic and be registered with the GTCS

Advanced entry:

  • Success in the Postgraduate Certificate in Gaelic Medium Education (Streap), delivered in partnership between Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and the University of Aberdeen, could allow you to enter the second year.
  • You will be interviewed at admission and must have 60 full credits from this program within the last five years.
