This course is designed and led by an international, multidisciplinary teaching team with expertise in analytical chemistry, toxicology, forensic genetics and crime scene examination.Obtain hands-on experience working in forensic scenarios in our crime scene rooms and SuperLab using the latest specialist equipment, and gain courtroom experience during a mock court session. Engage in research projects and collaborations with industry partners, exploring current forensic challenges through hands-on experiences.Study our MSc Forensic Science and you’ll be immersed in a practical environment that closely emulates a real scenarios – from crime scene to court room. You’ll have access to specialist equipment in our Science Centre in Cambridge, where you’ll be taught by experienced forensics academics and practitioners. We’ll support you to gain the practical and analytical skills and expertise required to become a confident and effective forensic scientist.Our course is accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences and benefits from our close links to major employers in the forensic science industry both in the private or public sector.You will discuss in depth the examination, analysis and interpretation of a range of criminalistics evidence when being processed from crime scene through to the laboratory.You’ll discover how to identify the evidential value of different types of evidence as well as how to identify and implement the most appropriate analytical methodologies.We’ll train you to design and carry out your own research project in an area that particularly interests you, and guide you on research methods, good practice, presentation and the application of your research.
Students need to have a first degree, with honours, in a related subject and at a minimum final classification of lower second (2:2) or equivalent.
