St. George’s University of Grenada School of Medicine (SGU), we are proud to provide the opportunity for you to earn a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and complete up to two years of your degree here at Northumbria University in Newcastle.The 5 Year Medical Degree Pathway (5MDP) is suitable for students who have completed their High School education with strong performance in science subjects. On this programme you will study for two years in Newcastle. Your first year of study with focus on pre-clinical studies followed by a second year of basic sciences. After two years you will progress to the second year of basic sciences training at the SGU True Blue campus in Grenada. Upon completion of the second year of basic sciences students who satisfy the necessary requirements will be granted a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) award from Northumbria University. You will then have the option of completing up to two years of clinical rotations in the USA or UK subject to local visa policies and restrictions in each location. The Doctor of Medicine (MD) award will be granted upon successful completion of the programme. The SGU/NU International Medical Pathway has been designed to develop knowledge, clinical skills, and research interests while giving you the opportunity to experience a multitude of healthcare systems and enable you to practice medicine across all specialties with a global perspective. The programmes offered in Newcastle are equivalent to those delivered in Grenada but give students the opportunity to study in and experience a different healthcare environment.As an established world leader in medical education for more than forty years, St. George’s University has contributed over 17,000 physicians to the global physician workforce with students, graduates and faculty from over 140 countries.The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at SGU opens doors for a medical career on an international scale, having been accredited and/or approved by many external regulatory and accrediting bodies. The accreditation standards that have been used to accredit the SGU medical degree programme have been deemed comparable to those used by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the organisation that accredits US and Canadian medical schools.
