St. George’s University of Grenada School of Medicine (SGU), we are proud to provide the opportunity for you to earn a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and complete up to two years of your degree here at Northumbria University in Newcastle.The 5 Year Medical Degree Pathway (5MDP) is suitable for students who have completed their High School education with strong performance in science subjects. On this programme you will study for two years in Newcastle. Your first year of study with focus on pre-clinical studies followed by a second year of basic sciences. After two years you will progress to the second year of basic sciences training at the SGU True Blue campus in Grenada. Upon completion of the second year of basic sciences students who satisfy the necessary requirements will be granted a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) award from Northumbria University. You will then have the option of completing up to two years of clinical rotations in the USA or UK subject to local visa policies and restrictions in each location. The Doctor of Medicine (MD) award will be granted upon successful completion of the programme. The SGU/NU International Medical Pathway has been designed to develop knowledge, clinical skills, and research interests while giving you the opportunity to experience a multitude of healthcare systems and enable you to practice medicine across all specialties with a global perspective.
