This exciting new programme is provided by the subject of Economics and offers training in the key areas of financial analysis, forecasting and financial investment. The programme is offered by the Centre for Economics and Financial Studies (CEFS) and aims to equip graduates with a comprehensive and practical understanding of financial markets and investment strategies, demanded by the financial and asset management sector. MSc Financial Modelling & Investment aims to: Provide you with a thorough understanding of the underlying forces acting in financial markets and the relevant analytical tools Help you develop the skills required to: Design and formulate optimal portfolios and investment strategies under market uncertainty Exploit available information to forecast the future behaviour of stocks, interest rates, exchange rates Provide authoritative and up-to-date analysis and advice on every type of financial investment and risk hedging strategies in global markets The constituent courses will develop both theory and practical applications through interactive lectures, seminars, tutorials and computer labs. These are often supplemented by online learning activities that help you prepare for and supplement in-class activities, working not only individually but also collaboratively. In this way, you will develop high-quality market skills that supplement a range of transferable and specialist skills within the context of global investment management. The acquired skills and knowledge on issues relevant to asset pricing and investments are essential for both institutional and individual investors participating in capital and money markets. You will receive Bloomberg training in the school's dedicated training suite, which will provide hands on experience in asset pricing, portfolio management and financial trading strategies.Graduates will typically follow career paths in major financial organisations, including asset management firms, investment banks and financial consulting companies, as well as governmental bodies, the IMF and the World Bank. Graduates have taken up roles as equity traders, financial managers, investment specialists and business intelligence analysts. We have further developed a dedicated careers and employability team who provide 1-2-1 support and advice, group workshops, employer events online and on-campus and networking opportunities throughout the year.
