If you're interesting in taking your existing expertise in Finance into a postgraduate research degree, Portsmouth is the perfect place to achieve your goals.
Finance affects almost every aspect of modern society, from the health of the global economy and the wellbeing of individual citizens, to the success or failure of businesses big and small. In the light of recent financial crises, we're working to prevent repeats of such events.
As a postgraduate researcher with us, you could examine the inner workings of financial markets and financial institutions, investigate the new technologies changing the financial sector, or study the upstart financial services challenging the status quo of traditional banking services.
We're busy transforming our knowledge into research that's making an impact, and our work is helping individuals, firms and governments with their financial decision-making. When you study with us for a postgraduate research degree, you'll make your own contribution to our exceptional work.
What can a postgraduate research degree do for my career?
Once you complete your postgraduate research degree, you'll be a highly-skilled researcher with the knowledge and skills to make an impact in many different industries.
Your postgraduate research qualification demonstrates to potential employers that you're an intelligent, capable and motivated person, with provable abilities and experience in critical thinking, problem-solving, project management, communication, leadership and creativity.
After researching with us, our successful postgraduate research candidates have gone on to impressive positions in a variety of fields – with many of our PhD students going on to work as full-time academics at the University, and at other leading institutions around the world, including:
