The HNC in Film & Television aims to give students the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to achieve high performance in the international film and television environment. The course will develop students with enquiring minds, who have the abilities and confidence to work across different business functions and to lead, manage, respond to change and tackle a range of complex film and television situations. The HNC will provide the core skills required for a range of careers in film and television. The course will develop students’ understanding of the major impact that new digital technologies have on the film and television environment and equip students with knowledge and understanding of culturally diverse organisations, cross-cultural issues, diversity and values, and to allow flexible study to meet local and specialist needs.ModulesModule A: Process & Practice. This unit builds skills in the studio and out on location working on live briefs from industry as well as skills building tasks to improve knowledge and practical skills. Module A2: Creative Project. This is a large project based units centered around using your skills from the first unit and putting them to a live brief with a professional final outcome.AssessmentOn this course you will be assessed via project based portfolio work and practical skills assessmentsCareers & ProgressionThe HNC in Film & Television prepares learners for work in the industry or to progress on to a BA qualification. It prepares students to move on to specific areas of film and television at Level 6 or to enter employment with the qualities and abilities necessary for roles that require personal responsibility and decision-making. Our BTEC Higher National in Film and Television support students in developing the key skills, qualities and strengths that employers are looking for. The course will have a focus on working with employers in the area to produce video content. The Level 4 Higher National Certificate provides a solid grounding in film and television, which students can build on, should they decide to continue their studies beyond the Certificate stage.
