This programme is validated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. On completion of this course you will have met all the NMC Nursing Associate Platforms, which represent the standards youll need to meet when youre caring for people in a professional healthcare role.
The concept of the nursing associate role was first introduced in the Shape of Caring Review (2015) where the development of a defined highly trained support role to help registered nurses deliver safe, effective and responsive care was needed in order to respond to the future nursing needs of the public and patients.
You can choose to study this course at either our Preston, Burnley or Westlakes campus.
Why study with us
The trainee nursing associate role is proving to be an exciting addition to the nursing workforce. Successful completion of this course will ensure you are eligible to apply for initial registration as a nursing associate with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The course is based on exciting and innovative teaching, utilising technology, superb clinical skills facilities and interdisciplinary education.
Gain real-world experience with two extensive external placements.
Why choose a Higher Apprenticeship?
With a Higher Apprenticeship, you get a great qualification and a career boost. Its the perfect opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge through work-based learning as you earn.
Grow and nurture your talent through the forward-thinking businesses we collaborate with.
Professional qualifications
A regulated Level 5 qualification such as a foundation degree or Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education delivered by an institution approved by the NMC to provide pre-registration nursing education.
To be accepted onto this course you must hold a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
Future careers as a nursing associate
Successful completion of this course will mean that you have met all the NMC Nursing Associate Platforms, which represent the standards youll need to meet when youre caring for people in a professional healthcare role.
Nursing associate is a protected title and may only be used by someone on the Nursing and Midwifery Council register.
We work with employers to design and deliver Higher and Degree Apprenticeships and establish the content and delivery of a programme according to their needs on an individual basis. What and how this is delivered is designed with the employer through the tailoring of delivery both mode and content.
