Take your career in healthcare to the next level with our FdSc Assistant Practitioner Higher Apprenticeship. You'll get the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to be a compassionate healthcare worker.
You'll learn to provide, supervise, and coordinate exceptional health and social care for a diverse range of people. When you complete the course, you'll be a competent healthcare professional. And, you'll have met the requirements for the assistant practitioner occupational standard.
Our two-year programme will give you the skills and knowledge needed to excel as an assistant practitioner in your chosen field. Delivered one day a week, the course is a blend of core and pathway modules. This will allow you and your employer to tailor your learning to suit service needs and professional goals. With our unique approach, you can customise your learning experience, making it more relevant and impactful.

Future career:
As an assistant practitioner you will assist in total patient assessment and coordinate care. You'll perform clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic activities. APs work in various settings. This includes rehabilitation, radiography and community mental health.

You will be responsible for working within your competence and authority. You may delegate, supervise, teach and mentor others. You will report to a registered healthcare practitioner and may manage your own caseload.
As an AP you must communicate well and adhere to strict standards. You'll promote a safe working environment, where you assess and manage risk. And, you'll continuously develop your knowledge and skills. You may also provide leadership within the scope of their practice and take part in audit and research activities.
