Teaching and Learning
One of the benefits of the International Foundation Year is that you will receive teaching from award winning Queen Mary academics.
You'll receive approximately 15 to 28 hours of weekly contact time, in the form of lectures and seminars. You will be encouraged to contribute to seminars through pair work, group work, discussion, presentation and case studies. We use a mixture of teaching styles – lectures, tutorials, classroom activities and laboratory work for students on the Science and Engineering route.
You will also complete a further 20 to 25 hours of independent study each week.
Assessment typically includes a combination of coursework (writing tests, reports, presentations, seminar skills, portfolios) and/or examination.
