Fashion Marketing and Communication will offer a comprehensive understanding of the fashion industry, allowing students to develop as creative professionals with strong conceptual and technical skills. This innovative and externally facing FdA programme will challenge students not only in their range of creative and practical skills but through increasing autonomy and industry confidence. This foundation degree with produce graduates with up to date skills, fit for purpose and ready for employment in a range of roles within the fashion industry. The programme will also allow students to express their personal philosophy of their discipline and develop their own signature style; driving innovation. This course has been designed to prepare students for a career within Fashion Marketing, Communication, Retail, Promotion, Brand Consultancy, Buying, Styling and Creative Direction. Throughout the course students will develop the technique of maximizing productivity in the face of international competition, demanding customers and the ever-changing nature of consumer buyer behaviour. Through live briefs, industry speakers, trips and placements students will develop their professional network and industry experience. In their final year students will develop their portfolio in a chosen direction within the industry creating a professional portfolio of work to gain employment and exhibit at industry trade shows. Fashion Marketing and Communication also serves as the focus for industry engagement. The key element of the practical modules is in direct relationship with the industry; making the student work relevant to the current climate. Additional preparation for employment within and beyond the fashion industry is addressed within Transferable Skills, Industry Engagement and Portfolio modules through which students are challenged to gain increasing independence in their engagement with the industry from Levels 4 and 5. . As part of our work ready guarantee we will give you the opportunity to undertake an exciting work placement with organisations such as Trend Bible, Urban Outfitters, London Fashion Week, Modrec styling and Pink Boutique, to name but a few. You will also have the opportunity to work on live briefs from industry which will give you an idea of what it is like to work in the sector. The most recent live briefs have been with Barbour, Creative Review, The Handbag Clinic, Wreckreation and Second Skin. Academic progression is available through the BA (Hons) Design Practice (Top Up).
