The BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing Management at Cardiff Met is a unique blend of fashion, marketing and management for individuals who want to pursue a career in the vibrant global fashion industry. This course will give you an overall view of how the fashion industry works, with an exciting combination of academic theory and real world industry immersion – preparing you for a range of potential careers within fashion business. You will have creative collaborations with the BA (Hons) Fashion Design students to maximise your fashion exposure, inspiring your creativity and strategic thinking by understanding the process of design from sketch to shop floor. You will gain insights into the needs and desires of fashion consumers, understand the importance of strategic brand management in fashion and the international scope of fashion marketing in an evolving multi-channel landscape. You will explore the ‘style press’ and future colours and trends and will discover the art of effectively communicating with a variety of fashion customers using both creative digital skills and traditional methods. You will use industry standard software equipping you with visual skills, alongside developing verbal and written communication skills. In an increasingly globalised market, fashion brand and marketing managers require a strong knowledge base and understanding of international market structures, culture, market entry modes and brand strategy. The fashion marketing management programme at Cardiff Met focuses on internationally relevant projects and offers the opportunity to travel for study trips or exchange visits. The course lecturers have both academic knowledge and industry experience to develop the skills you need to become highly employable fashion marketing graduates. You will enter a ‘think tank’ of fashion marketing, putting your knowledge and skills into practice during your assessments and work placement opportunities. An optional work placement year between your second and final year enhances employability and exposes students to valuable experience and networking opportunities within the industry. This Fashion Marketing Management degree focuses on developing your personal and professional skills and awareness, developing highly creative and analytical graduates capable of adapting to an ever evolving fashion industry. Upon graduating, you will have a wide base of fashion, marketing and management knowledge – with transferrable skills relevant to many roles within the fashion industry. We offer this programme with two study options. You can choose three years full-time or four years full-time which would include a one-year professional placement between years two and three that will give you hands-on experience in a real-life working environment. This sandwich year would give you practical skills that many employers seek, giving you a competitive edge upon graduation.
