Explore the esports industry in depth with our Esports Business Management BA and build a solid foundation in business concepts while gaining valuable practical experience. You’ll develop professional skills to enhance your employability, preparing you for exciting career opportunities in the thriving esports sector or related fields such as marketing or consultancy.
You’ll draw on your own experiences as an esports consumer, engage in current industry debates, research future trends and analyse the demographics of esports consumers. You will also develop expertise in areas such as sponsorship, consumer behaviour, environmental issues, media relationships and managing esports teams.
How does the esports industry promote itself, and how does it overcome public misconceptions? Marketing plays a key role in shaping the public image of esports and addressing preconceived ideas about the sector. To help you understand the issues, you’ll explore fandom, marketing, media, events and sponsorship in the sphere of esports.
BA (Hons) Esports Business Management is part of our dynamic suite of Business Management degrees, offering you a comprehensive understanding of key business and management principles. All our Business Management programmes share a common first year, where you'll build a strong foundation in core areas such as Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources, while also exploring the wider global business context - covering topics like international economics, politics, and society. You’ll also develop essential skills in data analysis and digital decision-making tools, crucial for today’s tech-driven business world.
Practical, career-focused teaching and learning ensures that you can apply the theory you’re learning to real-world scenarios that will build your expertise and confidence. We will also get you thinking about sustainability and business ethics so when you begin work or start your own business you can be a force for good in the world.
Our built-in Professional and Academic Development Programme spans your entire degree. Designed to fully prepare you for securing a great job or starting a business, you will develop your professional skills, creativity, confidence, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Our aim? To ensure you graduate with clear goals and impressive experiences to show future employers or investors. You’ll benefit from Keele Business School’s strong industry connections, placement or entrepreneurship opportunities, hands-on practical experiences, and invaluable real-world insights such as through our Global Challenge Pathways.
In an increasingly competitive job market, employers are seeking to recruit employees who have high-level knowledge, skills and an understanding of the workplace. Choosing a work placement year between your second and third year is a fantastic way to gain industry experience. It can provide a valuable insight into what working in a specific area of business is like, and gives you the chance to familiarise yourself with the professional working environment and develop professional networks. A work placement also provides you with the opportunity to apply the theory you have learnt on your degree course.
*Students who require a visa to study in the UK may be able to add in a work placement depending upon the programme. The ability to add a work placement is dependent upon the UK Immigration rules at the time of the request. It may be that for some programmes students will not have the option to request a placement period to be added to their programme before they arrive in the UK and would need to apply for a new visa. There is no guarantee that a placement will be provided and that students who have a visa are subject to a number of restrictions on the type of work, including placements they can undertake.
