Environmental law is a broad field which also covers sustainable development. It requires an interdisciplinary understanding and core legal knowledge. Our LLM Environmental Law covers the main environmental protection legal and policy issues. Our course will help you to address major environmental challenges and drive change. You will enhance your skills and knowledge to help solve environmental problems. You will also develop your understanding of factors that impact environmental issues. These include political, social and economic factors. Core module content is taught using a comparative approach. This enables you to apply the knowledge and skills you gain anywhere in the world. We have an excellent staff-student ratio at the University of Dundee. LLM seminars are often delivered in small classes. This allows for higher quality discussions which greatly enhances the learning experience. You will be provided with reading and questions to work through in advance, so your classes will be highly participative and engaging. You will study several core topics including: Environmental regulation, International climate change law, Water law. You will also complete an LLM dissertation on a relevant topic. This allows you to further develop your legal research and writing skills. You may apply for and take part in internships to gain valuable practical experience.
A UK Lower Second-Class Honours (2:2) degree. Your degree should normally be in law. If you have a degree in another subject, you can also apply for consideration by including a personal statement explaining your motivation for applying for the LLM, and outlining any relevant work experience. Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
