Amazing educational experience, I couldn’t have asked for a better coordinated and taught 3 years in my earth science department! I have loved learning my subject and has enhanced so many of my crucial skills and learnt new ones. It has brought me opportunities and brilliant experiences. RHUL Earth Science department is unbelievable exceptional and should be regarded higher. RHUL student life however does let the university down, with only one club which plays the same laborious club music every week with rare if at all events that deviate from mainstream rubbish ( I accept this is subject and therefore bias). The local pubs are crusty and the two student pubs that are on campus include one with a weird dull atmosphere and the other despite much better has slower service than a whetherspoons. In terms of societies the rugby is shocking with a load of boring low lifes that have to organise fun to live that ‘uni-life’ other societies I'm sure are good fun, however. There is one bewildering society where a group of young adults excitedly run around with nerf guns shooting one another, this can be a weekly distraction. The SU shop will cost you an arm and leg to buy your basic breakfast, lunch and supper, which is completely unnecessary as its custom is constant and broad. So a lot to be done for student life but the SU does put on really useful fruit and veg markets every Tuesday with exceptional good prices compared to the SU shop and other supermarkets for that matter.

Loved every minute of it. The fieldtrips are the best thing about the course. There is always someone in the uni to talk to. The union is well run with lots of opportunities. There are lots of clubs and societies to join and I have joined a lot. The uni needs a larger gym, more libraries and an actual nightclub.

The University itself is a work of art with stunning surroundings. The University is well organised in terms of education by the use of Moodle and Campus Connect. There is a vast range of societies from a very well established community radio station to new and upcoming societies. As it is out of London the nightlife for some is said to be poor. But, its not about where you go its about what you do and who with as everyone at Royal Holloway is very friendly. Myself and friends have been out in London a fair bit due to bus services being put on with cheap entry and VIP drinks so a great night out in some of the top London clubs or you go out get McDonalds and wait till 5am for that first train home! But, if this is not your thing the SU is a great night out on the right night with the right people along with a forever expanding pub culture. The sports teams are great for competitive people and non-competitive due to the Be.Active programming putting on sessions of most sports each week. The funding and potential for these teams are one the rise up the BUCS tables which is always positive. Most of the lectures are passionate and want to do the best for you in terms of extra research and getting what you want from the subject. Overall, if your a friendly, hard working person who is open to new experiences, wants a top quality degree and a is up for a laugh Royal Holloway is the place for you.

I love it! Nothing really bad to say, enjoy my lectures and seminars, have made good friends, the SU is good, is a small uni with only 9000 people here, although familiar faces is never bad, and you are never alone as you get to know most people who enjoy going out or staying in. Halls is a great place to mix and be social, make sure to mix within the first few days as it is hard to make friendship groups later on.
