Falmouth University

What’s good is that the staff is very welcoming and helpful and willing to send people in the right direction. What isn’t as good and needs improving is that a lot of the accessibility room are at the bottom of the hill making mobility difficult.

Falmouth University is situated in a great location. With a wide range of courses and plenty of support, Falmouth is a great University and I can't recommend it enough!

It’s a mix of old and new worlds. It has 2 beautiful campuses, the original Falmouth School of Art campus at Woodlane with its purpose built studios in elegant Fox gardens near the sea and the Penryn campus with the original Tremough House on site. The gardens at Penryn are exceptionally beautiful in spring with rare rhododendrons and camellias as tall as houses! The traditional walled garden complete with original orchard is a gem too. Of course the new buildings are state of the art in look and feel. Sympathetic to the incredible Cornish landscape they utilise local minerals and materials in their features. There are so many gorgeous reminders of a gentler age of elegance with these Victorian landmarks that rest alongside the new exciting architectural structures. All in all, like the fascinating mix of microclimates witching the Cornish peninsula, Falmouth University campuses reflect diverse blends of the visual and sensory. Being a unique rural environment attracting global students and staff, wonderful intimate community is formed. So many people say that it has a family feel that is hard to find at other institutions. With so much support from student services, staff and mentors, feeling welcome and settling into studying is possible immediately. There are a myriad of societies and groups to join and both academic and personal support on hand all the time. Facilities are of a high standard, especially the library which is continually updating its collection of journals and other media alongside the fascinating archival centre. Research becomes a breeze with access to the cream of relevant industry resources plus the stellar induction processes into all the available services which facilitate deep dives into your chosen subject and just about anything else that might pique your interest! The energy on campus is always vibrant and dynamic as you are immersed into so many different subject areas. From dance performance practice sessions to robotics or gaming and traditional textile weaving and illustration, the University Workshop Festival allows for a taster of another discipline and insight into new processes that can add unique value to your work and transform it from predicable to pioneering. All happening within the two campus locations, whether you’re looking for Victorian buildings full of traditional studios or a yoga session at the modern Sports Centre, there is an endless list of potential spaces and activities to shape your experience here. I think the only way that things could improve is continuing to develop and expand food provision on campus. There are some nice dining spaces and food but it can get better and more diverse. The extension of studio opening hours would also further enhance the student experience without question. Allocating dedicated inter campus and town travel on bus would be good as the local bus service can be expensive as is the campus parking. Developing the green transport policy by creating a long lasting travel subsidy via a fleet of dedicated university vehicles might be a solution. Aside from these potential developments which could make studying at Falmouth University almost perfect ! Life on and off campus is hard to criticise. It’s the hard working staff and teams that have created the incredible facilities and infuse the spaces with their personal talents and skills making Falmouth University a very special place to study, I hear so many of my peers say they never want to leave!

Awesome. Applied on a whim. So glad I did. It's just a really friendly place with a great atmosphere. Really chilled and whole thing just works really well. Amazing course with dedicated lecturers and Falmouth has a great social side.
