Newcastle University is a great place to study as I always feel apart of something bigger than myself whilst also getting the support I need from the wellbeing team. I like the structure of my academic week and never feel too overwhelmed with anything. Perhaps one thing I would improve would be for there to be more of an easy access to receive academic hep with assignments and hold workshops that benefit this.

Good gym facilities at the sports centre and reasonably priced for availability Lots of affordable places to eat such as Dough Daze for a slice of pizza The worst experience is living 30mins away from campus so when it's raining it's not so great

Newcastle uni has loads of opportunities to prepare for the future, in on campus jobs, extra curriculars and loads of student leadership positions. In SELLL there is an incredible community feel, with so many events to help us understand what our degree can progress to and to help us find likeminded people. It is also great for student support, with many ways to help you get through the harder aspects of student life. I've faced many mental health/ personal struggles throughout my time at university so far and have always felt I had someone to go to at the university to help me find the right course of action for my struggles. I think that there are some issues with facilities, though they are continually making improvements to make campus better. One key example for this is lifts. They have many faulty lifts across campus which I know have caused issues for a friend of mine in a wheelchair. I think they try to be accessible but problems with getting things back up and running when there is a fault causes campus to sometimes be very inaccessible. Additionally, I know there have been recent issues with strikes due to the threat of reducing staff. I know that during this everyone on my course felt like we were under threat as a small group within the school of English. So, if you are a creative, Newcastle is a university with a more 'academic' focus, meaning less thought can be put into the resources needed for creativity, which for us includes a variety of staff members with specialisms in different forms of writing.

Although I do have to commute on the bus for an hour, I’ve been really enjoying uni so far, especially the social side of it!

Amazing place, everything is top tier from teaching to the accommodation to the city. Only thing is some accommodations can have minor plumbing issues from time to time but the staff are quick to solve them.
