This postgraduate apprenticeship offers apprentices an in-depth personal and professional development programme designed to transform them into confident and informed leaders within an engineering organisation. This programme offers the opportunity to progress on to an MSc upon completion of the apprenticeship.

Course outline and modules

This postgraduate apprenticeship offers apprentices an in-depth personal and professional development programme designed to transform them into confident and informed leaders within an engineering organisation.Through study of a Postgraduate Diploma and work place application, apprentices will gain a broad knowledge of management and leadership topics, covering areas such as strategy, financial management, human resource management and leadership, all viewed from the perspective of strategic leadership of the engineering function or business and explored in the company of fellow engineering professionals.

With the option to progress from the Postgraduate Diploma to an MSc in Engineering Leadership & Management, learners will be able to further specialise their learning and add value to their organisations through in-depth exploration of a business issue or opportunity.

This programme comes under the Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship standard. It is a two-year programme, including the End Point Assessment and consists of a total 120 credits. Candidates who complete this programme will be eligible to apply to progress onto a full MSc qualification.

For direct enrolment onto the MSc programme in Engineering Leadership & Management, you will need one of the following: A good UK honours degree; An equivalent overseas degree recognised by Aston; A degree-level professional qualification Plus You must be currently working in a relevant engineering sector; At least FIVE years relevant work experience; An official academic transcript of your grades (in English) where relevant; Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence of an English language qualification; Two professional references, each of which should reflect your leadership and management potential.
