Are you aspiring to become a technology leader or entrepreneur, or to create a start-up?

Today’s industry environments are complex and often involve interdisciplinary collaboration. To succeed, you will need a technical background as well as expertise in business, management, and finance. Building on Sussex’s strong foundation of interdisciplinary study, you will be taught jointly by the Department of Engineering and Design and the Department of Management.

You will gain a broad education in business, management, and finance. And you will have the opportunity to study advanced engineering topics - from mechanics and robotics, to 5G and AI. You’ll benefit from:

  • case studies and company visits
  • experimental learning in our Future Technology Labs
  • industry links during dissertation projects
  • guest lectures featuring international speakers and industry leaders.

As a graduate, you will have the knowledge and skills to compete in the fast-paced world of engineering management.

Careers

Our course is designed to meet the strong demand from engineering-based companies and organisations for their technical specialists to be proficient in project management, to understand the global business environment and to be capable of achieving leadership management positions.

The continued demand for highly qualified engineers worldwide means that – with the combination of technical, business and management knowledge you gain from this course – employment opportunities are available in a wide range of sectors including:

  • transportation and automotive
  • manufacturing and electronics
  • energy supply and sustainable-energy industries
  • banking and financial software
  • telecommunications and control.

On successful completion of this course, doctoral study is also an option.
