This Masters in Electronics & Photonics Manufacturing introduces you to a broad spectrum of specialist topics in advanced manufacturing and electronics design. These topics involve the fusion of novel nanofabrication and microforming processes with material technologies within a manufacturing context. This programme provides the essential knowledge and practical experience of manufacturing techniques for modern industrial and consumer products and systems.Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Glasgow is ranked 2nd in Scotland (Complete University Guide 2023). In research excellence (REF2014), Engineering was in the UK top 10 for number of staff judged to be world leading, 5th in the UK for world-leading and internationally excellent research. Students taking nanoscale manufacturing options will work in the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre, which hold a number of world records in nano-manufacturing, and boasts a 1350 m2 cleanroom and over £32M of fabrication tools. You will take part in an interdisciplinary team project specifically designed to prepare you for engineering projects in industrial manufacturing, dealing with both technical issues and key non-technical issues such as legal, environmental and financial considerations. The school has an Athena Swan Silver Award, demonstrating the school’s commitment to supporting women in scientific studies and careers, and to improving the working environment for all. MSc project options are either in collaboration with industry, or academic researchers in the Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering, Infrastructure and Environment, Systems, Power and Energy, Aerospace Sciences, or Biomedical Engineering Divisions.
