The Electronics and Computer Engineering MEng at Sheffield teaches you skills that are at a premium: digital design, hardware circuit design, programming in C and other languages.As a student at Sheffield, you’ll also grow your understanding of the interconnected fields – like electrical network behaviour through signal processing and programmable systems – making you a fully rounded engineer, ready to contribute to real-world challenges.Practical experience is key to our teaching. As a first-year student you’ll take part in the faculty's Global Engineering Challenge to solve a real-world problem. Second-year students get to work on a week-long project, Engineering You’re Hired, devised by one of our industry partners. And you’ll also get the chance to work with an engineering company through the semester-long Sheffield Industrial Project Scheme.The third year will see you focus on more advanced topics such as digital signal processing, Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) design, hardware description languages and operating systems. And you'll carry out your own design project, supervised by an academic.In your final year, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on a research project led by an academic with industry input. This year-long group project is created to develop your practical, transferable skills like team working, decision making, problem solving and communication.Choose Electronics and Computer Engineering MEng at Sheffield, and you’ll graduate as a specialist, ready to contribute to any team.
