Course overviewIn a world filled with smart devices with a global need to create green energy, our course provides a detailed insight into the computing systems and software needed to advance all technology.A lot of the things you learn will be done in labs either working individually and through group projects. You'll study subjects such as analogue and digital electronics, circuits and systems, computing, communications and the application of electrical energy.When you graduate from this course, your combined knowledge of hardware and software engineering means you will enjoy a rewarding career in whatever industry you choose.Our course will give you the required engineering expertise for a career in engineering or in a variety of other professions.All undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering initially follow a common programme of study, allowing them to change to a different plan up until the end of their third semester in year two. It is also possible to add or remove a year abroad and year in industry after joining the course. By year three, you can choose to specialise in the topics that interest you and suit your career aspirations.If you are made an offer at MEng level, this will include a contextual offer for the BEng version of this course. This means that, if you do not achieve the required results to meet your MEng offer, but would have met the requirements to join the BEng version of your chosen course, you will automatically be offered a place on the BEng version of your chosen course.Careers overviewWith the broad range of skills acquired from this degree, you will have excellent career prospects in areas such as software development, fibre optic and mobile communications, aerospace technology, automotive systems and renewable energy technologies.
