Overview
As well as learning the basics of electrical engineering, you will undertake hands-on learning by building prototype electronic circuits, programme microcontrollers and industrial PLCs, and learn how our world is being reshaped by the interconnection of smart devices over the 5g network in what is being called the I.O.T - Internet of Things. We consider the teaching of Electronics at Belfast Met to be amongst the highest standard throughout the UK; we are the only college in N.I this year whose electronic engineering students qualified for the finals of the World Skills Competition - securing 4 of the 8 places against UK wide competition. Career Prospects
The electronics industry in the UK is currently undergoing huge growth. Around 1 in 5 people employed in the UK are employed in engineering, and the UK is projected to need an additional 200,000 engineers every year until at least 2024. Our courses offer a pathway from level 3 to level 5 from which you can progress to degree, or on to employment in many high paid jobs within the electrical & electronic industries including:
