In a world where sustainable energy, smart home technology, the Internet of Things and even self-driving cars are a reality, studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering offers students immeasurable potential opportunities. The advances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering are so great that every part of 21st Century life is improved by them.As a result, Electrical and Electronic Engineering is one of the broadest and impactful exciting engineering disciplines on offer at Queen’s University. The degree programme covers a wide spectrum of topics, from micro-electronic chip design and manufacturing to power generation and distribution. Rapid advances in fields such as telecommunications, computer firmware, hardware and networking, medical electronics, security, control and robotics and renewable energy systems are also reflected in the course structure.Globally there is a critical shortage of experienced and talented engineers. This means that Electronics and Electrical Engineering graduates have excellent career prospects across a broad range of sectors.At Queen’s we work closely with future employers to enhance these career prospects and placement experiences are embedded into the course. This allows students to engage with and learn from real world challenges from day one. This combination of academic theory and application forms a core part of the curriculum and vastly improves our graduate employability rates.
