About this course
The importance of education is recognised worldwide, and education has many different aspects. This course focuses on education in a very wide sense. You'll consider broad questions including ‘what is education for?’, ‘what does it look like around the world, and why?’
You'll have the opportunity to specialise, via selection of optional modules, in one of three directions:
Teaching and Learning
Technology in Education
Educational Leadership and Management
During the course, you’ll gain a firm grounding in education research methods and carry out your own investigations. You’ll be taught by educational experts in the field, and study alongside students from a variety of international and professional backgrounds, including UK teachers. This means you’ll benefit from learning from each of their perspectives to enhance your own knowledge and understanding of education in its many forms.
Distinctive features of the course include:
ability to tailor your course to suit your interests: you’ll choose from optional modules to tailor your course to specialise in a particular area. Within your modules you’ll also have opportunities to explore your own interests within the area
opportunity expand your knowledge and experiences: you’ll study education and pedagogy in international contexts to gain a broad understanding of education across the globe
diverse student body: you’ll benefit by learning from the diverse experiences of your peers to enhance your own knowledge and understanding of education in its many forms. You’ll also study alongside part-time colleagues who are practising UK teachers
