My experience as a trainee teacher at NTU has been overwhelmingly positive. From the moment I joined the programme, I felt supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow both professionally and personally. The university offers a well-structured blend of theory and practice, ensuring that trainee teachers not only understand key educational concepts but also know how to apply them confidently in real classroom settings. One of the strongest aspects of NTU is the quality of its teaching staff. Lecturers are approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in the success of their trainees. Their lessons are engaging, research-informed, and often grounded in real-world examples that make even the most complex topics easy to grasp. They also provide constructive feedback that helps refine teaching skills over time. NTU’s placement opportunities are another major highlight. The school partnerships are strong, and the placements are thoughtfully arranged to provide meaningful, hands-on experience. During my time on placement, I felt well prepared thanks to the university’s guidance and pre-placement workshops. The support continues throughout the experience, ensuring that trainee teachers never feel left on their own. The overall learning environment at NTU is inclusive, collaborative, and encouraging. My cohort became a tight-knit community, and group discussions, peer observations, and joint projects helped us learn from each other just as much as from our tutors. Overall, NTU is an excellent choice for anyone training to become a teacher. The programme equips you with solid pedagogical knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence needed to step into the classroom ready to make a difference. I would highly recommend NTU to aspiring educators looking for a supportive, high-quality training experience

Amazing support from staff and course leaders in both the Education department and Computer Science department. Loads of facilities to accommodate self study.

It’s a great place to study the location, environment and the experienced lecturers just the support for students could be better in terms of mental health, workload , managing stress during exam times

NTU has great facilities open to all, whenever you need them. You are able to do as much or little as you like through the week which means you can manage other commitments alongside studying.

It’s been great to return to NTU for my PGCE! I’ve felt supported by my tutors and have had all the information to support and challenge ideas and pedagogies. It was easy to decide on NTU for a fifth year of study based on a great reputation, quality support and a course that matches my needs perfectly
