The way that we learn and develop as children underpins our entire lifespan and lies at the heart of our Education & Psychology Foundation Entry course. Explore learning, memory, thinking and language, as well as the problems encountered by young people in education, such as learning difficulties and social or emotional challenges. In Year 1, you’ll study the core areas of cognitive, social, psychobiology and developmental psychology. In Years 2 and 3, you’ll study specific modules about the application of psychology in educational settings. There’s an opportunity to undertake a placement in an educational setting at each stage of our programme. You’ll study in our state-of-the-art Psychology Building, with a specialist video child observation suite and cognitive laboratories. Education and Psychology Foundation Entry could lead to a career in a primary or secondary school, or further education teaching following a PGCE or other postgraduate teacher training. You could also work in public services and teaching support roles.
