Best aspects: most of the staff is helpful. There are some tutors/ professors who look out for their students. There are opportunities you can access as long as you put in the interest. Worst aspects: some of the staff is unresponsive. It takes time for them to finally deal with your inquiry, if they do it at all. Facilities could do with some renovations/ better maintenance/ cleaning.

It is difficult to fault Manchester both as a city and a university. If anything, the only real bad thing I could say about it is that the accommodation is situated too close to takeaways and too far from the gym! In all seriousness, it is a great university so I would recommend it to anyone over cities such as London and Birmingham. Manchester has an edgy-ness no other city in the UK compares to in my opinion – you should definitely consider it here.

I love it here! There are so many societies to join, and it’s really important you get stuck in straight away so you don’t miss out. If you miss out it might be pretty easy to drop off the map so make the effort from the outset and you’ll do well. Basically, just say yes! That applies to wherever you go, but at Manchester there are so many more opportunities so you have to have that approach to get the most out of it.

Getting involved in football is something I would encourage anyone who’s interested to do. The socials and the games are a good place to meet some great lads who I’ve had some good laughs with. The initiation was brutal but worth it! If you want to come here you need to do well in your exams and be up for a challenge as well as an adventure, but living in such a big city means the possibilities are pretty much endless.
