The teaching and research at Birkbeck is truly excellent! I love all the lectures and tutorials, they're so interesting and I found that any questions I had were kindly and supportively answered, I always got a quick response via email too. The HyFlex format is incredibly helpful for those days you can't make it in person, and it's very well organised. They have a great career service where advisers can talk to you about career plans, and there's an excellent exploratory online service for more clearly defining you career goals, checking your CV, interview practice and more. In terms of academics and career support Birkbeck delivers really well. The campus itself is nice, being in the centre of London is a great plus, easy access to everything. The library is incredible, lots of quiet and comfy spaces to study, and you can have about 20 books out a time no problem. The only downside is there's not much of a student community/life here, not as much as at other universities, being an evening university with a more mature student body. There's things going on but you have to actually be active about it and check the email newsletter, put things on your calendar etc. as it doesn't have that buzzing university feel where there's always something going on. The student union is great though and there's lots of opportunities to get involved. The facilities and campus look could be improved.

Evening lessons so you can take full advantage of the day. Really good support network and tutor system. Not the usual university experience but it works for most :)

I started my course in October 2nd of last year, as a foreign student. I already have some other graduation in my country, but studying abroad, in a total different place, with different culture and language, has been a challenge since I got here, even more because the methodology of teaching and education system works in a different manner than I was used to in my country, demanding specific skills and evaluating some aspects differently, what despite being harder, is also greater for my academic and intellectual development! I feel that Birkbeck really provides me with everything I need to make this journey more acessible! The library is HUGE! And ALL the literature avaiable for reading and recommended by the professors are amazing! Besides it, the online tutorials and workshop calendars are very useful! Whenever I get lost about a procedure or when I'm not sure how something works, there's a tutorial or online page where I can run to. Well, as mentioned at the beginning, being a foreign student is definetely hard! But I feel I couldn't have chosen a better university to make this journey easier and more comfortable!
