Our Economics MA has been curated to provide you with an advanced skillset in key areas of applied economics to facilitate your development as a successful economist who can contend with the economic challenges we face in an ever-changing world.
Our focused structure will give you the space to master the monetary rationale of economic interactions so you can become confident in applied economic theory and applied research skills, with a clear policy focus. Weve embedded employability into the programme with opportunities to engage with local employers through our consultancy and placement projects and develop relationships with professional bodies such as the Government Economic Service via guest lectures and research projects.
You will graduate as an extremely employable economist with analytical skills which are highly sought after by government departments and the private sector. You will develop expertise in areas including advanced cost benefit analysis, the design of policy briefings, The Green Book, monetisation of non-marketed goods and the calculation of carbon footprints. Plus, these skills are enhanced through the programme's optional and dissertation modules which are designed to deliver high quality employability skills.
Studying on this programme will give you an outstanding training in economics providing you with an exceptional combination of transferable skills and economic knowledge you can take forward into a successful career in the field. Youll be well placed to pursue careers in public and private sectors finance, banking, local authorities and NGOs upon successful completion, securing roles such as actuarial consultants, data analysts, specialist data consultants, research consultants, statistical forecasting and evaluation (ONS), stock market analysts. You could also progress to undertake further postgraduate studies at PhD level.
