This MPhil/PhD programme at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute is available on a three-year full-time or five-year part-time basis. Develop your scientific knowledge and research skills in a world-leading academic centre for postgraduate studies and translational research, with a focus on oral health, microbial diseases, and biomaterials tissue engineering. A world-class research centre, UCL Eastman Dental Institute offers you a range of doctorate research opportunities in the fields of oral health and society, microbial diseases, clinical research, and biomaterials tissue engineering. You will undertake a research project under the supervision of at least one of the institute's international specialists, who will support and guide you in your reporting, presentations, and networking. The nature of your project can be defined by you or your supervisor, depending on availability and funding. It is expected the project will involve basic science but may also be clinically relevant.
A minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelors degree in an appropriate subject, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard, or a recognised MRes or Masters degree. All prospective applicants, except those applying for advertised studentships, are encouraged to send an informal research enquiry. This should be sent directly to the Research Student Administrator (edi-phd@ucl.ac.uk). Making a research enquiry helps define your interests, contributes to making your application successful, and also serves to ensure the identification of the best possible supervisor for your needs. You can find information about the research departments within the Eastman on the Eastman website. All applicants must meet UCL's general entry requirements for MPhil/PhD.
