Explore the relationship between drama and history, from discovering what it was like to go to the theatre in nineteenth century London, to unpicking the connection between empire and performance. Studying a variety of different cultures, historical periods and diverse societies, you’ll uncover hidden details about past events and explore them through dramatic works. Ranked 6th in the UK for drama in Times Good University Guide 2024, top 10 in the UK for research in history (REF 2021), and 1st for research in the UK (REF 2021), you’ll know you’re being taught by academics at the forefront of their discipline. You’ll learn through lectures, plays and site-specific performances, and be spoilt for choice with a wide range of modules. Pick the topics that match your interests. We consider applications from students with the Access to Higher Education Diploma. The minimum academic requirement is to achieve 60 credits overall with 45 credits at Level 3, of which 15 credits must be at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit or higher. This must include at least 6 Level 3 credits in History modules at Distinction.
