Succeed in an increasingly digital world. Explore the latest digital technologies. Innovate and create solutions for real digital marketing challenges.

Course overview

From the first day of your digital marketing degree course you will begin to learn the skills to develop from student to digital marketing expert. In your first year, learn marketing fundamentals alongside practical application. Start to build your professional portfolio with real live digital projects. In Year 1 you will build and launch your own website.

In the second year of your degree, you will build upon these skills and use more specialised digital marketing techniques. Open and explore the digital marketer’s toolkit, including social media, mobile, virtual and augmented reality. Discover the wealth of possibilities the digital marketing toolkit has for creating outstanding, successful campaigns. Work on live social media campaigns so you can see the results of your own planning and creativity in real time. Start to shape your career path by focusing on an aspect of digital marketing that inspires you and undertake a five-week work placement that suits your personal interests and ambitions.

You can take an optional year-long placement which really brings your course to life and will enhance your graduate employment prospects. You may even spend this year studying business and management abroad in Europe, North America, Asia or Australasia.

In your final year you will look at all the exciting developments in digital marketing technology that will impact upon the future of marketing. This includes mixed reality, understanding big data, and smart technologies. You will continue to work on practical digital marketing projects to add to your professional portfolio. Projects you may showcase would include the apps, mobile websites or augmented reality tools that you have created.

You will carry out an original supervised research project into a subject you select and complete a module designed to maximise your individual professional success. Everything you study is done alongside the development of hands-on digital marketing skills. You will be looking at solutions to digital marketing challenges for organisations from small companies and charities through to leading multinationals.

Assessment

You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including practical and work-based projects, consultancy reports, presentations, and examinations.

Job prospects

A wide range of jobs in the field of marketing and digital marketing is open to our graduates. Typical job roles would be SEO specialist, planning and running social media campaigns or use analysis tools and analytics to evaluate marketing activities.
