It is an area of expertise that is constantly challenged by rapidly evolving technology and new innovative criminals methods used to commit crime.
Why study MSc Digital Forensics at Middlesex University?
The smooth running of societies and economies is now dependent on the security of computer networks, and cyber crime, from fraud, identity theft, cyber stalking, ransomware to terrorism and espionage. It can affect anyone and this is at the forefront of government policy. Our innovative course was created to meet the demand for skills in an area that is chronically short of well-qualified graduates.
The course has a strong practical focus, with an emphasis on both in-depth technical and legal theory and hands-on project work. You will also have the opportunity to achieve professional certifications during the course, with industrial partners at a small nominal cost. These industrial partners may be changed, subject to demands for skills and technology.
All sessions are held online in the 2020/21 academic year due to COVID-19, providing full access to the above technologies without the need to use any campus facilities.

One of the largest employers of digital forensic scientists is the police and there are many opportunities available with other government agencies and departments, such as the Serious and Organised Crime Agency, MI5, the Serious Fraud Office and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
