My university experience has been a mix of really positive aspects and a few challenges. On the positive side, the campus environment is welcoming, and the staff are generally supportive and approachable. The facilities are modern and well-equipped, which makes studying and carrying out research feel much easier. I also appreciate the diverse student community, as it creates a friendly atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to learn from different perspectives. However, there are a few areas that could be improved. Communication from certain departments can sometimes be slow or unclear, especially regarding timetable changes or important updates. At times, the workload can feel overwhelming without enough structured guidance. Additionally, support services—although helpful—can be difficult to access during busy periods, making it harder to get timely help. Overall, it’s a good place to study, but improving organisation, communication, and access to support would make the student experience

The support from my personal tutor has made my time in Portsmouth much easier. The clinical experience so early in the course really helped me get a feel for my future career. The academic staff seem genuinely happy to be work and are willing to help whenever you need it.

Best is how the teachers teach, the content is displayed in a very easy to follow manner and rant overloaded, exams are overlooked by several professionals in the field to ensure fiarness

My university has given me a strong sense of belonging. Its location is very convenient for me, and all its buildings are close together. It takes me just 10 minutes to get there. I love my campus! The Ravelin Sports Centre is right next to the library, which is right next to the Dental Academy where I study. This makes it easy to combine lectures, extra studying, and workouts all at once without wasting time. I also really like the societies available — there’s no way you won’t find at least one that interests you. My teachers are very supportive and embody the values of truly capable academics. I know I’ll miss them when I graduate, and I’m thankful for their excellent teaching. The only thing I wish could change is that some of the large lecture rooms tend to get warm very quickly, which makes it uncomfortable and affects students’ focus. Perhaps installing air conditioning or ceiling fans would resolve that issue. I would also love to see more internship or Erasmus program opportunities to help us expand our knowledge of dentistry in other countries, experience new cultures, and make new friends…truly been an inspiring and wonderful experience that the university can surely take pride in.

Student Union is really bland and boring and there is never any interesting events that young students might want to attend
