  • Use a range of analytical techniques such as data mining, time series forecasting and modelling techniques to identify and predict trends and patterns in data
  • Assist production of performance dashboards and reports
  • Assist with data quality checking and cleansing

Technical knowledge and understanding underpinning this apprenticeship includes understanding and applying:

  • A range of data protection and legal issues
  • Experiencing the data life cycle, different types of data, including open and public data, administrative data, and research data
  • Understanding differences between structured and unstructured data, fundamentals of data structures, database system design, implementation and maintenance
  • The importance of the domain context for data analytics
  • Quality issues that can arise with data and how to avoid and/or resolve these
  • Defining customer requirements for data analysis and the processes and tools used for data integration
  • Steps involved in carrying out routine data analysis tasks and how to use and apply industry standard tools and methods for data analysis

Also, the aim is to make our learners professional practitioners and develop skills, attitudes and behaviours commensurate with the competency of this role. This includes applying logical and creative thinking skills, analytical and problem solving skills, developing the ability to work independently and in teams, developing and using initiative and communicating effectively in a variety of situations to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
